Above the fold

Very interesting article on the Digital Web Magazine mentioning 'the fold' in web design.Yes, 'the fold' is where the page cuts off in a user's browser window and any content below that fold is deemed less important ... well that used to be the case a few years ago.My company still follow this rule of thought, we give our customers everything they need in the top half of the page. My belief though is that with mouse-scrollers pretty much the norm these days, it is unlikely a user wouldn't scroll down if they could. In a positive light, as a web designer, it gives me a greater challenge to incorporate lots of features into a tight-sized page design.
