Guidelines for Visualizing Links

Jacob Nielson has produced guidelines for visualising links in a web page. In summary:
Textual links should be colored and underlined to achieve the best perceived affordance of clickability, though there are a few exceptions to these guidelines.
And Design by Fire offer a little bit of design advice in return!
