Intel Reader
20th Nov 2009
Computer chip manufacturer Intel has launched a new text reading device called the Reader. Simply point the device at text to transform to speech, ready for listening. An additional device called Portable Capture Station can be used in conjunction to scan a whole book, which sounds like a pretty good idea.
Aimed as a learning device for schools and as an accessibility aid for the blind and partially-sighted, the price of £1000 will inevitably limit who can afford to use it.
