Kottke mentioned Textdrive in his post describing his business influences. He disclosed that Textdrive has primarily been funded by it's users (of which I am one) by raking in $40,000 worth of lifetime hosting deals. Seemed like a good idea to me. Here's some more writing about Textdrive.
